Session 1

Poster Creation: Social Relationships -- Session 1

  • Place yourself at the center.
  • Identify different social groups with which you interact (friends, family, classmates, teachers, etc.) Don't forget digital communities, such as your IM contacts, you MySpace groups, etc.
  • Cluster these groups around yourself in a layout that resembles your perception of their relationships
  • Connect yourself with different people you interact with indicating the technology used in every case, if any.
  • distinguish between positive and negative aspects of your current social relationships. What can be improved?

Session 2

Poster Creation: Local Awareness

  • Draw a map of your daily routine (schematic, doesn't need to be exact. Make sure to use the whole space because we're going to fill this map with different stuff, later on)
    • Mark your daily itinerary and the places you frequent.
    • Mark the places where you live, work and play.
    • Indicate the places where you engage with technology
  • Do you know what's happening in your city?
      • Mention some of the latest news
      • What things are happening that have a repercussion in your life?
  • Do you know what's happening in the world?
    • International news and public affairs
  • How do you get informed about what's happening in the world?
    • Describe media and technology involved (place them where they belong in your map)
  • Identify people that bring this information to you
    • Where do you get your information (from where and from who) to help you survive as a teenager.
      • For instance: where are the classes going on, where's the party, what should I we wearing for that date, etc.

Final critique: Is this information relevant? is it interesting? should it concern you?

Session 3

Poster Creation: Power & Involvement

  • Place yourself at the center
  • Place the groups and networks in which you (or would like to) participate
  • Imagine an ideal situation:
    • What kinds of things would you like to do together with your friends?
    • What things would you like to change or improve from your current environment?
    • How do you see yourself in the future?
  • Is there any device you use you would like to hack?
    • let's imagine you have to knowledge to do so, what thing you would like the dive to do that its not doing now?
  • How could you modify what the GAP offers you? (the clothing store)
    • Would you like to change what other store is offering you?
  • How do you negotiate with your friends to go to the movie you want?
    • which are your persuasion tools and techniques?

Session 4

Create a Mobile Device: (A Concept Validation Session is prerequired)

  • Design physical appearence (dimentions, proportions and shape)
  • Design screen elements
    • What will it allow you to do?
